The Mayraberd-Askeran fortress let through nomads from Azerbaijan and huge quantities of cattle unhampered.
During the last 50 years, the destroyed Armenian part of Shushi with a total area of about 300 ha was turned into a kind of testing ground where cattle was inoculated against certain diseases.
